Gentle Equine Bodywork for Balance, Comfort and Wellbeing

Helping horses move more freely and feel more at ease through calm, responsive, hands-on bodywork.

A Gentle, Horse-Led Approach to Bodywork

I provide gentle equine bodywork for horses across Port Macquarie, Kempsey, and the wider Mid North Coast. My work focuses on releasing tension, improving balance and gait, and supporting each horse’s overall wellbeing in a calm, respectful way.

Every session is guided by the horse. I work slowly and intentionally, listening through touch and response rather than forcing change. This allows the horse’s body to soften naturally, supporting comfort, relaxation, and more fluid movement.

What Is Equine Bodywork?

Equine bodywork is hands-on work with a horse’s muscles, soft tissues, posture, and movement. It helps identify areas of tension, restriction, or imbalance that may affect how a horse moves or feels.

Using gentle soft tissue techniques, movement awareness, and basic stretching, bodywork supports:

  • Muscle relaxation

  • Improved posture and balance

  • Smoother, more comfortable movement

  • Physical and emotional ease

Bodywork works alongside good training, management, and veterinary care to support long-term horse wellbeing.

My Training and Philosophy

I have completed the EQ100 – Equinology Equine Bodywork course, delivered by Equinology, a well-respected international equine education provider.

This training gave me a strong foundation in:

  • Equine anatomy and biomechanics

  • Posture, balance, and gait observation

  • Safe, ethical soft tissue techniques

  • Working with the horse by reading physical and behavioural responses

My philosophy is simple: gentle techniques, clear communication through touch, and genuine care for the horse’s long-term wellbeing. Bodywork is never rushed, and every horse is treated as an individual.

How Bodywork Can Support Your Horse?

Equine bodywork can benefit a wide range of horses, including:

Performance and Competition Horses

Helping maintain muscle balance, support recovery, and reduce tension associated with workload and training.

Pleasure and Lifestyle Horses

Supporting comfort, relaxation, and ease of movement for horses in regular or light work.

Ageing or Stiff Horses

Assisting with mobility, posture, and general comfort as horses age.

Horses Under Stress or Change

Bodywork can help horses experiencing physical or emotional stress feel more settled and grounded.

What to Expect From a Session

Each session begins with quiet observation of posture and movement, followed by gentle, responsive hands-on work. I pay close attention to how the horse responds and adjust my approach accordingly.

Sessions are calm, unhurried, and horse-led, allowing space for real release rather than surface-level fixes.

  • Yes. The techniques I use are gentle and non-invasive, and sessions are always guided by the horse’s comfort and response.

  • This depends on your horse’s workload, age, and individual needs. Some horses benefit from regular maintenance, while others may only need occasional sessions.

  • No. Equine bodywork supports wellbeing but does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment. I’m always happy to work alongside vets and other equine professionals when appropriate.

  • Many horses show clear signs of relaxation during sessions, such as softening, yawning, licking, or changes in posture.
